"During the journey, the captain should often connect with the passengers. All galley equipments should be in working order. The check-in agents should be aware of all the rules. . The passengers should be helped and accompanied if they are required to go to other counters for making payments. They also should be periodically counselled to interact with passengers politely.  

This is part of the message that Air India CMD Ashwani Lohani has sent to the employees in a letter on Wednesday. A smile on the face and conversing sweetly and politely without an iota of irritation would be a good thing. However no relaxation whatsoever should be given for baggage. The engineers should ensure that the planes are immaculately clean and defects in the cabin are kept at bare minimum.National carrier Air India has suggested to its pilots that the captain on a flight should end his or her first address to passengers on board with a "Jai Hind" (victory to India) salutation, which he says will make a "tremendous impact". . They should be available on their cell (phone) on a 24/7  basis," the Air India CMD added..Loss-making national carrier Air India is afloat due to grants from the government which owns the airline. Combined type AHUln case of delay with passengers onboard, both cockpit and cabin crew should keep passengers in the loop by providing them information about the reasons for the delay at timely intervals. Commercial staff should remain available at the gate till push back and before the aircraft docks in."ln fact all the staff of Air India or its ground-handling agencies should be regularly counselled to be courteous and polite. They have to be proactive and positive with a problem solving approach. Special check needs to be kept on supplies ."The cabin crew should greet passengers while enplaning and also deplaning with ‘Namaskaar’ as was the earlier tradition."As a part of our efforts to turnaround, it is of utmost importance that our passengers have a good experience. All employees who interact with passengers should invariably be well dressed and have their name on badges. ln case of  progressive delays, they should also proactively communicate with passengers keeping them informed of the issues.. Besides at the end of his first address  usage of words "Jai Hind" makes a tremendous impact," the Air India CMD said, in his letter. ln case of delay exceeding 30 minutes, the airport manager, as well as the station manager, should immediately reach the site and attend to passengers.. Curtains, carpets and seat covers should also be maintained immaculately clean. I would therefore appreciate if Air lndians follow the suggestions given below with all their heart put into implementing the same".  

The quality of food has to be good. This message should  be communicated to them regularly and almost daily by officers. The role of station manager and airport manager is of vital importance.. There should be adequate communication to passengers and their boarding/lodging needs should be taken care of without delay. Their attitude should be positive with a problem-solving approach," the Air India CMD has said. Efforts are on to improve the market share of the national carrier and craft a financial turnaround.

The air quality in Delhi is monitored through a set of Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring System (CAAQMS) and manual stations by National Air Quality Monitoring Programme (NAMP). The CPCB analysis is based on the data collected by eight operational CAAQMSs, including four of its own (Shadipur, Dwarka, Dilshad Garden and Parivesh Bhavan) and other four belonging to Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) (Mandir Masg, R.5 levels rose by over 57 per cent on January 18, with an average concentration across the city of 277 micrograms per cubic metre, which falls in the "severe" category. According to the CSE’s analysis, data from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) indicates that PM 2. Other studies carried out by the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) showed that traffic congestion had also reduced considerably while the scheme was in force. "Overall, it can be stated that while some reduction in air pollution is likely to happen due to the odd-even scheme, a single factor or action cannot substantially reduce air pollution levels in Delhi," says the report that analyses air quality in Delhi before, during and after the odd-even experiment.  

With no clear trend and wide fluctuations observed in the concentrations, it is evident that the meteorology and emissions from other polluting sources have been major factors impacting air quality of Delhi during the period. Apart from this, data has also been collected from seven manual stations of CPCB (Pitampura, Sirifort, Janakpuri, Nizamuddin, Shahzada Bagh, Shahdara and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg) which operate on alternate days. Puram, Punjabi Bagh and Anand Vihar).The lack of any clear trend and wide fluctuations in concentration of pollutants during the odd-even experiment suggest that   no single action can substantially reduce air pollution levels in the capital, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has said in a report.K. The board has also called for a "comprehensive" set of actions and an "integrated" approach to make substantial improvement in air quality

The air campaign reached a peak in July, when warplanes carried out 887 air strikes - 518 in Iraq and 369 in Syria, US military data analysed by Reuters shows.US-backed forces in Syria have renewed their drive to capture the eastern town of al Hawl and to push Islamic State away from the Turkish border along the Mar'a line north of Aleppo. "We are not focused on numbers of strikes. The strikes have focused on the towns of Mar'a, al Hawl, al Hasakah and Dayr az Zawr.Coalition strikes since July in Syria have been concentrated around al Hasakah, a town near the northeastern frontier on the route to Sinjar, Tal Afar and Mosul in northwestern Iraq. The US air campaign has been criticised by Republican lawmakers and others who say the intensity of the strikes is insufficient to reverse the advances of Islamic State fighters, who overran large parts of Iraq and Syria in 2014. The United States and its allies carried out a dozen strikes in Syria on Saturday, the US military said in a statement on Sunday.US military officials downplay the significance of the strike data, saying they represent the ebb and flow of battle and are affected by things like bad weather, which may prompt changes in targeting on a particular day. US bombing in  Iraq has targeted Ramadi, Sinjar and Mosul. About 37 percent of US air strikes in Syria focused on that town. The software installed in the rake is an integral part of the train.The company, which had provided the software for the air-conditioned train, on Tuesday conducted a check on the trains parked at the Kurla car shed. The train is currently maintained by the Central Railway (CR).An official said, "The company has provided the hardware wherein only software made by them functions. Glitches found in the train’s software had left the railway officials a worried lot who are hopeful that the same would be mended before the beginning of the static trials of the train in a week. So their presence is required when we try to fix it.  

During the trials, the speed and the oscillation of the coaches are checked. However, with the above-mentioned hurdles in place the train was not operationalised. It will determine if the rake can see the light of day or  China Multifunctional swimming pool heat pump unit not."Union minister Suresh Prabhu had promised that the train would be thrown open to the public by June this year. They had visited us when the rake had arrived in April but had to return as it was not leading anywhere. The inductors were malfunctioning and posed a safety hazard to the commuters. According to the officials, even though these glitches are taking time to be mended, it would help while ordering the next batch of air-conditioned trains. "The height of the train is more than the permissible limit, but once the inductor issue is sorted, other issues can be taken care of. The trains had been gathering dust. After all the efforts failed, CR sought to replace the two inductors that regulate the voltage running in the overhead wires and the temperatures in the air-conditioning unit. We hope to conduct the static trials of the rake in a week."Static trails of the train are conducted in the car-shed itself following a clearance. Initially, the CR had tried to maintain the train but later roped in a company, StructOne Corp, to do the same

 "In 1989, NASA had conducted a study in which they identified some plants that better absorb the five most harmful pollutants from the air.He said that these plants can clean the air in an area of 10X10 feet around them.Amritkar said that their objective is to expand this initiative to every railway station as well as every home.The commuters at the railway station also commended the effort as a positive step towards combating air pollution in the cities across the country. We have planted most of those plants here," Amritkar told ANI on Monday. I think that there should be such parlours in all the polluted areas and railway station," one of the commuters at Nasik railway station said.Nashik: In a unique initiative to battle rising air pollution in cities, an ‘Oxygen Parlour’ has been opened at Nashik railway station to provide an experience of breathing clean air to the commuters. "People can also gift one of these plants to friends and family.

The initiative comes with the efforts of Airo Guard in collaboration with the Indian Railways. "This is a good effort towards improving air quality. It will expand the reach of this initiative and help improve the air quality across the country," he added.The  hi-temp cabin cooling unit co-founder of Airo Guard, Amit Amritkar said that the concept of Oxygen Parlour is based on the recommendation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). "There are around 1500 plants here, so, these plants can directly and effectively bring down the pollution in the air at the railway station and allow the people to breathe cleaner air," he said
